Advance is proud to announce our role in a special project being conducted in partnership with LEGO and the Centre for Playware at the Danish National Technical University (DTU).

Together, we’ve successfully applied for a significant grant from the Danish Advanced Technology Foundation to research and develop modular playware – intelligent hardware and software that uses AI and robot technology to create new play products.

A large part of the project’s brief is finding new ways to support child development through playand playful experiences and this is where Advance will play a key role, lending our insights from over 30 years of helping LEGO build its brand.

The project will run over the next three years and we’ll be reporting back here with regular progress updates.

As we mentioned last week, Advance recently pitched for the Top Toy account. We’re really pleased to report that the hard work paid off and we were successful.

Top Toy are the owners of the BR and Toys ‘R’ Us chains of Toy Shops in Scandinavia and Germany. We’re absolutely delighted to be working with two such massively successful brands.

ADVANCE WINS ZULU AWARD ’08

Last night, our ‘Langt ude i skoven‘ campaign for Elsparefonden won a Zulu Award for Best TV Commercial 2008. We were up against some tough competitors: SAS, Fleggaard, Seat and Café Noir. But apparently voters found the environmental focus of our campaign more worthy than naked babes pole-dancing on the back of a truck. So thank you for that :)

This award is the culmination of a strong and visible campaign effort throughout the latter half of 2008 and it’s fantastic to get this recognition.

So thank you to those of you who voted and congrats to everyone involved: Remée & Thomas Troelsen, Craig Frank Production and Kuntz Koppel. And of course Elsparefonden for having the courage to trust in the creative solution.

ELSPAREFONDEN – THE TRILOGY IS COMPLETE

The snow is falling outside and Christmas spirit is slowly but surely taking over the agency. We celebrate the month of December with the third and final burst in 2008 in the Elsparefonden ‘Langt ude i Skoven’ campaign.

As in the previous commercial, Frank Production and Orbit have developed the visuals and the music is produced by Troelsen & Remee. This time Basim takes the lead on vocals:

There’s also a little behind the scenes film showing the recording of the track.

The key message in this execution is related to computers and the big savings (both economically and environmentally) you can get from choosing products branded with the Elspare mark. Do the math yourself and check out the list of recommended computers on Elsparefonden’s homepage here

ELSPAREFONDEN – PART 2!

The second TVC in our Elsparefonden campaign “Langt ude i skoven” hits TV screens today. The vocals are performed by the wonderful Ane Trolle, one half of the popular Danish duos Trolle//Siebenhaar and Jaconfetti. (Her gorgeous voice also graces several of the tracks on the latest album from Trentemøller.)

Here’s the spot:

The fantastic visuals come courtesy of Frank Production and Orbit while, as in the first spot, the music is produced by Thomas Troelsen and Remée and the overall creative idea was developed by Advancers Michael Svoldgaard and Henrik Svenningsen. For this one we’ve also made a behind the scenes movie showing the recording of the track which you can see here!

NEW CAMPAIGN FROM ELSPAREFONDEN RECEIVES TOP RATINGS

Our new campaign for Elsparefonden “Langt ude i skoven” (as mentioned here and here) has received some fine recognition from TV2′s award “Den Glade Seer”, which is a monthly rating of the top television ads in Denmark based on the audience ratings.  The campaign comes in second place on the overall liking score. Based on the buying intention the campaign takes the winning seat, and since it’s all about changing behaviour in stead of just talking about it, we’re quite pleased with this recognition.

The second burst of the campaign with brand new spots, will run from week 45 and again before christmas, so if I were a little purple puppet called Harry, I would certainly start waking up and smell the coffee… :)

QUAKER MINI FRAS HEALTHIEST IN TEST

Quaker’s Mini Fras breakfast cereal – launched earlier this year – has been named by the Danish consumer magazine TÆNK as the only cereal it would recommend. Advance was involved from the start, helping Quaker with everything from the  product development process to packaging design and many other communication elements.

The sales success of the product clearly confirms the need for a healthy but still tasty – as well as fun – children’s cereal and to get this recommendation from a well-respected consumer organisation (TÆNK is produced by the Danish Consumer Council) is definitely a feather in the cap.  

The other nine cereals failed mostly because of high sugar or fat content or low fibre content. See the full list of failures here. The test also revealed that seven out of the ten products contained so much sugar that it accounted for up to a third of the portion!! More info here and here

Advance has just launched a new campaign for S.A.T.S. which reveals your true physical age before and after 10 weeks training at S.A.T.S. In addition,  the lovely healthy people at S.A.T.S will give you guidance about your training and ideas for optimizing your workout depending on your goals!

IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO SAY – SING IT (PART II)

We’re really excited to be able to unveil our latest campaign for Elsparefonden (the Danish council for promoting energy-saving behaviour). The campaign (launching today) is called ‘Tænk Længere’, which could be translated as ‘Think Deeper’, or maybe ‘Think More Conscientously’.

Until now, Elsparefonden has concentrated mostly on cost-cutting for consumers. But now it’s widened its focus to include the environment. The campaign calls on folk to think long-term about their energy consumption, and to always seek out household appliances with the Energy Saver label. Do that, and you’ll save money and reduce your carbon footprint. Simple. And with electrical appliances counting for more than 30% of Denmark’s carbon emissons, there’s a lot at stake.

The creative hook for the campaign is a well-known Danish children’s song called “Langt ude I skoven” and the lyrics remind us all to think about the consequences of our behaviour. The songs are produced by Remee and Thomas Troelsen, and three different groups/artists - The Danish Children’s Choir, Ane Trolle and Bassim - will be performing in three different executions.

The campaign was developed by Advancers Henrik Svenningsen (Copywriter) and Michael Svoldgaard (AD) and the online campaign was developed jointly with our digital partner, Wasabi. Check the website for lots of interactive goodness, and to watch the TVC (also below) as well as behind the scenes footage. New footage will also be added as the campaign develops.

So get to it, and start saving electricity!

LEGO NAMED THE MOST POPULAR TOY IN THE UK

A survey conducted by the British mail-order company Argos shows that LEGO is by far the most popular toy in the UK among adults. Of the 1,000 respondents aged 16 and above, a whopping 56% said LEGO was the toy that had given them the most joy throughout their lives. LEGO being a client of ours, of course this makes us very proud.

And the good news didn’t stop there for LEGO. The company’s V19 Star Wars spaceship ranked number 8 in the top 10 best-selling toys this year. Congrats!
