Everyone is slowly drifting back to the office after our summer break and, as we’re all still in holiday mood, our first post is high on irreverence and humour and low in seriousness.
Snickers’ ‘Snacklish‘ campaign (see above) has been around for a while and, as such, it’s slowly but surely becoming a victim of its own ubiquity. The folks at Olde English have pulled no punches with these. Brilliant:

Advance is holding its annual summer break for the next two weeks. The office will be empty, its desks uninhabited and its computers untouched. But it waits, it waits, bides its time . . . knowing that soon we’ll return. On the 27th of July. See you all!

THE NEWSPAPER CLUB

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to get one of the last copies of Things Our Friends Have Written On The Internet 2008.
Created by Ben Terrett and Russell Davies, the experiment – a miscellany of web content collated and printed as a run of 1,000 newspapers – is an experiment no longer. Now operating as The Newspaper Club, and with a fully fledged business model, they have a clear vision:
“We’re building a service to help people make their own newspapers.
What do we mean by people? Individuals, communities, clubs, societies, companies, friends, gangs. You know; people.
What do we mean by newspapers? Anything you can make by putting ink on newsprint. We think lots of people will want to make things that are quite like the sort of newspapers we already know. But we also hope to encourage people to reinvent what newspapers could be.”
Investment is already arriving and they have a number of customers.
There’s so much chatter about the future of print, but, until now, almost no-one’s actually gone out and actually tried to do something that might provide some answers. But anyway. This is a great start, and I’m full of admiration.
